Exemplar Carpentry & Home Renovations is owned and run by Matthew Sayers, a Michigan Licensed Residential Builder. This page explains what information exemplarcarpentry.com collects, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we use your details to answer you and to plan your project, and we never sell them.
When you fill out our quote request or contact form, we collect what you type in: your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, the best way to reach you, details about your project and how you heard about us. If you add photos to a quote request, we receive those too.
We use this information to reply to you, to understand and price your project, to schedule a visit and to keep a record of our work together. We may send you an email confirming we received your message. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Form submissions are stored in our website's database and sent to our business email account, which is hosted by Google Workspace. Photos you upload are stored on our web server with your submission. We keep this information for as long as we need it to answer you and to keep records of jobs we quote and complete. If you would like us to delete your submission, just ask (see below).
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the companies that run our website and email for us (our web host and Google Workspace), and only so they can provide that service, or when the law requires it.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our website, such as which pages are visited, how long visits last, the type of device and browser used, the general area (city or region) a visit comes from and whether a form was sent. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. We do not send your name, email address, phone number or message to Google Analytics.

To stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits on any website, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Our site loads its fonts from Google Fonts and shows award badges hosted by Houzz. Like any website that serves files, those services can see basic technical details such as your IP address and browser type when the files load.
Our forms use a hidden field and a timing check to filter out automated spam. These do not use cookies or track you.
Our site links to other websites, such as Houzz, Google, Facebook and Instagram. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
This website is meant for adults planning home projects. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and access to form submissions is limited to the people who need it to answer you. No website or email system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information such as bank or card numbers through our forms.
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
